Party games for large groups

Big group, one TV, and not nearly enough controllers. With Hangtime, everyone plays from their own phone, so it doesn't matter if you have 6 people or 16. Here are the games that hold up best when the room is full.

These all work with 8 or more, and most turn into team games as the group grows.

Bowl Game

Launch Pack ($5 once) · 4–16 players · Plays remotely too

The best big-group game we have: two teams, up to 16 players, and three rounds with the same slips (describe it, one word, act it out). Only the clue-giver looks at their phone; everyone else just shouts.

Doodler

Free · 2–10 players · Plays remotely too

Up to 10 players, one drawing at a time on the TV, everyone racing to guess. Free, with Teams mode for bigger groups.

Tips for big groups

  1. Use a laptop plugged into the TV with HDMI, or cast a browser tab, so the board is big enough for the back of the room.
  2. Turn on Teams in the lobby. Bigger games play faster in two teams, and the TV keeps a team scoreboard.
  3. More than 16? Run two rooms on two screens, or pair people up on one phone.

How to start

  1. Open hangtime.games/host on the TV or a laptop plugged into it, and pick a game. A four-letter room code appears, with a QR code to scan.
  2. Everyone joins at hangtime.games/play on their own phone. No app, no account.
  3. Play. The TV is the board and keeps score, and everyone's phone is their controller.
