A multiplayer Wordle-style race to play with friends

Hang Five is the five-letter word game you know, as a race. Everyone guesses the same word on their own phone, and the TV shows the whole race in colors only, never letters, so nobody can copy. It's free.

How to play Hang Five

Open Hang Five on any TV or laptop with a web browser. Everyone joins at hangtime.games/play on their phone with the four-letter code. Then:

  1. Everyone gets six guesses at the same five-letter word. After each one the tiles change color: green is the right letter in the right spot, yellow is in the word but somewhere else, gray isn't in the word.
  2. The TV shows everyone's colors, never their letters, so you can see who's close without anyone peeking.
  3. Scoring: 100 for solving it, +20 for every guess you didn't need, up to +100 for speed, and +50 for the Early Bird who solves it first. Not solving costs nothing.
  4. A round ends when everyone's done or the clock runs out (the host picks 90 seconds to 3 minutes). Then the word is revealed with everyone's guesses.
  5. Play 3, 5 or 7 rounds. Words are common everyday words and never repeat in your room.

Who it's for

Good for

Anyone who already compares their daily word-puzzle scores in the group chat. It's quick to learn, calm enough for grandparents and competitive enough for everyone else.

Playing apart

Hang Five plays remotely too, so it works as Wordle with friends over a video call. On your own? Pick Just me, or Me vs Birdy to race our bird. Hosts can also add Birdy to any game as an extra rival.

Free for everyone, with no account. Players join at hangtime.games/play with the room code.
