How to play Wordle with friends at the same time
Posting your grid in the group chat is fine. Racing your sister on the same word, in the same room, and watching her row go green one guess before yours? Much better.
How a multiplayer word race works
- Everyone gets the same secret five-letter word.
- You each have six guesses on your own phone. Green means right letter, right spot; yellow means it's in the word somewhere else; gray means it's not in the word.
- The shared screen shows everyone's colors, but not their letters, so the race is visible without spoilers.
- When everyone's solved it or run out of guesses, the word is revealed with all the guesses.
Scoring that keeps it close
In Wordy Birdy, solving is worth 100, plus 20 for every guess you didn't need, plus 50 for the Early Bird who solves it first. Not solving costs nothing, and there's no clock, so slower players still finish. Stuck players can ask Birdy for up to 3 hints, at a small cost.
Ways to play
- In one room: put it on the TV at hangtime.games/birdy-tv, everyone joins on their phone.
- Over a video call: start it from a phone in remote mode and share the code.
- On your own: pick Play on my own for a solo round, with hints if you want them.
It's free, takes 1 to 10 players, and runs 3, 5 or 7 rounds. Words are common everyday words and never repeat in your room.
Everyone races the same five-letter word on their phone. Free, 1 to 10 players.
